8: 10 p.m. Old/New Business:
Beaver Brook Trail Project
Kurt Buermann met informally with the Commission to discuss the Beaver Brook Trail project proposed by the Boy Scouts. He stated that a $500.00 grant is being donated by the Fields Pond Foundation for the proposed project. Kurt presented a map of the Beaver Brook Trail and a sketch of the proposed boardwalk to the Commission. He explained that the trail is approximately one mile long, and will eventually be connected to the Bay Circuit Trail as a result of this project. The entrance to the Beaver Brook Trail starts at the Moose Hill Parkway and continues along Farnhum Road to Sandy Ridge Circle. The Sharon Friends of Conservation are working with the Boy Scouts on this project. They are proposing the installation of a small boardwalk to skirt the swamp area of the railroad embankment.  Henry Horne, from the Boy Scouts, is proposing to construct a 25 – 32’ bridge over the Beaver Brook Dam, which is located near the tennis courts by the railroad station. Boy Scout T.J. Gillen plans to do some trail clearing and grooming for the proposed project. The removal of three white pine trees might be considered for this project in order to provide a vista for Beaver Brook. The installation of a small dock for this project depends on the availability of funds.
Peg stated that it would be necessary for the Boy Scouts to meet with the Commission to discuss their portion of the proposed project.
Kurt agreed to provide the Commission with the contact information for Henry Horne and T.J. Gillen.
